Reticulation and Irrigation Services in Perth

In WA, garden irrigation usually goes by the name reticulation, or retic. Perth gardens lean on it heavily through the long dry summer, and a lot of homes run their system off a garden bore. A well set up system waters lawns and garden beds separately and gets the right amount to the roots without wasting water on paths and fences.

Watering in Perth runs on a roster. Water Corporation says you can water once on your rostered days, either before 9am or after 6pm, and garden bore users in Perth and Mandurah follow the same rosters and times as scheme users. The reticulation businesses below install new systems, repair faults and service bores. Ask whoever you hire to set the controller to your watering days before they leave.

Garden Spec
10 Hawker Avenue
Warwick WA 6024
Tel: 0408 479 961

Garden Spec has been working in the Perth landscaping trade for more than 15 years and handles everything to do with reticulation, from a quick repair through to designing and installing a full system from scratch.

Most of the work comes down to finding faults fast. The team uses gear that locates lost solenoids and broken wires, along with a multi-meter for fault detection, so the problem gets pinpointed without digging up half the garden to find it. They diagnose, repair and maintain garden reticulation systems of all kinds, and they can set up a new system properly when one’s needed.

Repairs cover all Perth suburbs from Mandurah up to Joondalup, with a fully stocked fleet on the road so jobs get sorted quickly. Where a job needs other trades, such as a bore contractor, electrician or plumber, Garden Spec can organise and manage that side of things too.

They’ve seen the common Perth retic problems plenty of times: broken solenoid coils, corroded wiring, and pipes that are blocked, crushed or kinked. For tricky wiring that can’t be repaired or runs under concrete, they can fit an Add A Station that runs two valves off the one wire, plus low pressure nozzles to lift coverage where water pressure is down.

Garden Spec is a member of Irrigation Australia, is fully insured, and backs its reticulation work with a warranty.

Planning a New System

Good reticulation starts with zones. Lawns and garden beds need different amounts of water, so each should run on its own station with sprinklers or drippers to suit. Ask for a simple layout plan showing the zones, the controller location and where the water comes from, whether that is scheme water or a bore.

Water Corporation endorses waterwise specialists across WA who help with garden landscaping and irrigation, and you can search for them by postcode. Once a system is in, check the run times for each type of sprinkler so you are not watering for longer than you need to.

Winter Switch-off and Bore Repairs

Every year from 1 June to 31 August, the Sprinkler Switch-off applies to scheme and bore users in Perth, Mandurah and parts of the South West. If you are putting in a new lawn or garden during that period, you need to apply to Water Corporation for a watering exemption before using sprinklers. Systems that run on water from rainwater tanks are not covered by the Sprinkler Switch-off.

Late winter is a good time to book a service, before the first warm spell. Bore pumps, solenoids, controllers and sprinkler heads can all fail after months of sitting idle, and a technician who also works on bores can sort out the whole system in one visit.
