Lawn Care Services in Perth

Perth lawns grow in sandy soil that dries out quickly and drains water away from the roots. Summer heat puts them under stress, and the watering roster limits how often sprinklers can run. Regular mowing at the right height and good reticulation both help a lawn hold up through the hottest months.

Watering rules apply to every Perth lawn. On your rostered days, Water Corporation allows one watering, either before 9am or after 6pm, and garden bore users follow the same rosters. A lawn care service can set a plan around those days, covering mowing, edging, fertilising and weed control. Ask what a regular visit includes and how often they recommend coming.

The Lawncare Man
3/70 Discovery Drive
Bibra Lake WA 6163
Tel: (08) 9337 1300

The Lawncare Man has been going since 1993, and Guy Watson has run the business since 2004. Before taking it over, Guy spent years working in the turf industry, so he came in already knowing what Perth lawns need and where they tend to go wrong.

The service is built around lawn maintenance rather than mowing. Instead of turning up to cut the grass, the focus is on everything that keeps a lawn healthy below the surface: feeding, weed and pest control, soil condition and the steady upkeep that decides whether a lawn holds through a Perth summer or browns off once the heat sets in.

Both home lawns and commercial turf are looked after across Perth. In both cases the aim is a lawn that stays healthy year round rather than something patched up after it’s already gone backwards.

Garden Spec
10 Hawker Avenue
Warwick WA 6024
Tel: 0408 479 961

Garden Spec is a Perth lawn care business whose program covers the full range of work a healthy lawn needs through the year.

Weeds, pests and disease are dealt with as they come up, and feeding is handled with their own blend of organic fertiliser and soil conditioner. On the water side, they use wetting agents, retention agents and penetrants to cut down how much water a lawn needs without letting it dry out.

Soil pH is checked with digital readers, and they’ll give honest advice on extra work such as vertimowing and coring when a lawn would benefit from it. Full lawn renovations are also available when a tired lawn needs a fresh start.

Watering a Lawn on the Roster

Because you can only water on set days, it pays to make each watering count. Water Corporation suggests checking the run times for different sprinkler types to avoid overwatering. Run water early in the morning where you can, when there is less wind and evaporation.

From 1 June to 31 August the Sprinkler Switch-off applies in Perth, Mandurah and parts of the South West. A newly laid lawn needs an exemption from Water Corporation before sprinklers can be used during that period, so plan new turf around the Sprinkler Switch-off or apply early.

Choosing a Lawn Care Service

Some services only mow, while others offer fertilising, weed control, aeration and top dressing as well. Ask for a written list of what each visit covers and whether green waste is taken away. If your lawn has patches that stay dry, a service that can check sprinkler coverage will save you guessing.

Regular visits tend to cost less per visit than one off cleanups. Ask about the schedule through the year, since lawns in Perth slow down over winter and need more attention from spring.
