Swimming Pool Builders in Perth

A backyard pool gets plenty of use in Perth, where summer stretches well into autumn. Concrete pools give the most freedom with shape and finishes, and the area around the pool often matters as much as the pool itself. Paving, decking, planting and shade all need to work with the pool fence and the way the yard is used.

Every pool in WA comes with rules. The WA Government says all swimming pools and spas need building approval, and those holding water more than 30cm deep must have a safety barrier. Builders must lodge a notice of completion with the local government within seven days of finishing. Each business below designs and builds pools along with the landscaping around them.

Planning the Pool and Garden Together

A pool works best when it is planned with the rest of the yard. Think about where the sun falls in the afternoon, where the pool fence will run and how you will move between the house and the pool. Leave room for pool equipment that can be reached for servicing but is not right next to a bedroom window.

Ask your builder what the price includes. Some quotes cover the pool shell and equipment only, while others include coping, paving, the barrier and the landscaping. Get the excavation access and soil removal spelled out too, as tight side access can change the method and the cost.

Barrier Rules and Inspections

Local governments must inspect the safety barriers of new pools and spas within 30 days of learning the work is complete. After that, they run periodic inspections, with no more than four years between checks. Owners and occupiers must keep the barrier compliant from then on, whether it is temporary or permanent.

Barriers are child resistant rather than child proof, so active supervision is still the main protection. Never prop a pool gate open, and keep latches and hinges maintained. When comparing builders, ask who designs and installs the barrier and who arranges the final inspection.
